There is never a good time to fork over a bunch of money to any company for a repair or a replacement of anything around your house. However there are a few things, especially concerning your garage that really should be left up to a professional. Not only are there major safety issues when it comes to trying to replace your torsion springs, garage opener, or other components to the garage, but there are tons of other financial dangers involved. Each component of the garage works with the other parts to (hopefully) provide a smooth opening and closing of your garage, every time. One seemingly tiny misstep could prevent the entire system from working, and then you are back at square one with a non-operating garage door, and sometimes worse off than you were before. That usually means you still have to call someone out to fix what was originally the problem, and now on top of that any additional damage that was created when you tried to do it yourself. We can’t tell you how many times we have come out to a house and spent hours undoing what the owner has well meaningly done when the original problem was something inexpensive and quick to fix. We completely understand wanting to save a couple of bucks, but fixing your garage yourself usually costs much more in the long run. The best thing to do is stay diligent on your garage tune ups so that the technician can give you a heads up of pieces or parts that could be wearing, and how to properly care for the system so that you can get the most time out of each part as possible. Lastly, get a technician out as soon as things start acting abnormally, such as the presence of vibrations or loud noises that were not there before. Continued use of a failing system usually costs more the more it is used.
